God’s Perspective      Ps 139:1-14

Intro: Point of View is a certain way of looking at things. God has a certain point of view, and we have a certain point of view. The two are often quite different from each other even though we are looking at the same thing. Lets look together today and see if what we are seeing is distorted because of our Point of View.

I. God’s Perspective and Point of View

       A. Clear and completely visible

       B. Involves both Spiritual and Physical

              1. Elisha’s servant - 2 Kings 6:15-16

       C. Higher = Better View

              Ex: Flying in a plane

II. Our Perspective and Point of View

       B. Very Limited by our vision

              1. Can’t see far

       2. Too close to life to see what’s going on

Ex: Hands in front of Face

       3. Distorted by limited Physical perception

Ex: We can’t see the spiritual aspects all

                     around us

       4. Limited by our Experiences

       5. Limited by our Abilities

              Ex: Peter in the Boat

III. Changing our Point of View

       A. Letting God be our Eyes

              Ex: Seeing Eye Dog

       B. Be aware of God’s Perspective

              1. Pray - Stay in Touch

              2. Back OFF - Look at the Whole Picture

              3. Accept God’s way of looking at it

       C. Giving God Your Perspective and Taking               on His

              1. Repent - Change your thinking

              2. Baptism - New Birth

              3. HG

       D. Living life from God’s Perspective

              1. Things that matter aren’t things

              2. Treasure is best kept in Heaven

              3. Valuables we possess

                     a. Time

                     b. Energy

                     c. Labor

                     d. Finance

                           1) invested in us

                                  - gets us fatter

                                  - doesn’t really satisfy

                                  - leads to pride at our                                                  accomplishments

                           2) invested in heaven

                                  - produces lasting treasure

                                  - brings satisfaction

                                  - humbles us and keeps us

                                         dependent on God

                                  - brings the blessings of God

Conclusion - Let us begin to see life, live life, and walk according to God’s perspective. Paul told the Romans in Chapter 8 that this was Walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Read it later and see the many benefits. God wants our lives to be productive, beneficial to the Kingdom, and most of all satisfying to us. As the old song said, “I can’t get no, satisfaction... but I try !”

God alone holds the key to real joy and peace and satisfaction in our lives.
